Straight answer: the Oakley Meta HSTN starts at CAD $499 and the Oakley Meta Vanguard is CAD $639 at Charm Optical (prices as of July 2026). Both shoot 3K video, both have open-ear speakers, and both run hands-free Meta AI. The HSTN is the everyday pair and it takes your prescription. What are Oakley Meta glasses?

Oakley Meta glasses are real Oakley frames with Meta's technology built inside them. You get an Oakley shape and Oakley PRIZM lenses on the outside, and a camera, open-ear speakers, microphones and the Meta AI assistant on the inside. Say "Hey Meta" and you can take a photo, start a video, ask a question, or change your music without touching your phone.

No screen, no display — and that is the point

These are not AR glasses. There is no display in the lens and nothing floats in front of your vision. What you actually get is a camera at eye level, speakers you can hear music through while still hearing traffic, and a voice assistant. That is it — and for most people, that is exactly enough.

How they compare to Ray-Ban Meta

Same Meta platform, different frame maker. Ray-Ban Meta gives you the classic Wayfarer and Headliner shapes. Oakley Meta gives you Oakley shapes, PRIZM lenses and a lot more sport durability. If you are weighing up the Ray-Ban side too, we wrote a full guide on Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, and you can browse the range on our Ray-Ban Meta page.

Oakley Meta HSTN

Rounded lifestyle frame · from CAD $499

Oakley Meta HSTN in Black with clear lenses — the prescription-ready everyday frame

Camera

A camera built into the frame, recording Ultra HD (3K) video, plus hands-free capture with "Hey Meta". Meta says a white capture LED lights up whenever the glasses record, and that the camera is disabled if that light is blocked or tampered with. Meta does not publish a megapixel figure for the HSTN, so we do not quote one.

Oakley Meta Vanguard in Black with Prizm 24K lenses — the wraparound sport shield

Camera

A centred 12 MP camera behind a 122-degree wide-angle lens, recording up to 3K video. Because it sits in the middle of the frame rather than off to one side, the shot lines up with where you are looking.

Oakley Meta HSTN — Clear frame with Transitions Grey lenses

Our pick: Oakley Meta HSTN

If it is going on your face from breakfast to bedtime, you want the pair that looks like normal glasses and can carry your prescription. HSTN, from CAD $499.

Buy the HSTN if…

You want one pair that does everything. It looks like a regular pair of Oakleys, so it does not shout "gadget" in a meeting. It is the right call for commuting, travelling, walking the dog, a round of golf, or filming your kids — and it is the only one of the two that can be built with your prescription in it.

Buy the Vanguard if…

You train. The wrap shape stays put when you run, it sits under a cycling helmet or a hat, and IP67 means sweat and rain are a non-issue. Meta rates the Vanguard's speakers at six decibels louder than the HSTN, so you can actually hear them at speed, and its five-microphone array is optimised to reduce wind noise. Pair a Garmin and you can ask Meta AI for your heart rate without breaking stride, while Autocapture can start recording hands-free and Strava can overlay your metrics onto the video.

The HSTN is a pair of glasses that happens to have a camera. The Vanguard is a piece of sports kit that happens to be a pair of glasses. Pick the one that matches your day.

Oakley Meta price in Canada (July 2026)

Here is what we charge, next to the Ray-Ban Meta range for context. All figures are in Canadian dollars and current as of July 2026 — prices change, so check the product page before you plan around one.

Meta smart glasses at Charm Optical — CAD, as of July 2026
Model Price at Charm (CAD) Prescription?
Oakley Meta HSTN $499 – $589 Yes
Oakley Meta Vanguard $639 No
Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer / Headliner / Skyler From $469 Sun and clear lens options
Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) $569 Yes — built for it
Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2) $569 Yes — built for it

Worth knowing

Prices for these models vary by retailer and they do change, so always check the product page for the current figure before you plan around one. The real reason to buy locally is not the number anyway — it is that someone fits and adjusts them to your face, and handles the lenses if you need a prescription.

Why the HSTN price moves between colourways

The HSTN is not one price because it is not one product. The lens is what moves the number. Here is the actual ladder on our store today — three rungs, and the frame you pick decides which one you land on.

  • $499 Clear or standard PRIZMBlack / Clear · Warm Grey / Prizm Ruby
  • $559 Polarized PRIZMBlack / Prizm Black Polarized · Brown Smoke / Prizm Deep Water Polarized
  • $589 TransitionsBlack / Transitions Amethyst · Clear / Transitions Grey

That is the whole story behind "$499 to $589". Prescription lenses, if you need them, are quoted separately on top — call us and we will price your exact combination.

Can you get Oakley Meta in prescription?

HSTN — yes

The HSTN takes a prescription lens, so this is a real option and not a workaround. Bring us a current prescription (or book an eye exam if yours has expired) and our Edmonton opticians order your lenses — single vision or progressive — into the frame. Ask us for a quote on your specific prescription and lens choice; it depends on your numbers.

Vanguard — no

There is no prescription lens option for the Vanguard. It is a sun-only sport shield, full stop. We will not put a prescription in one, and we would steer you away from any third-party insert that claims otherwise — you are gambling with optics on a $639 pair of glasses.

If you train and you need a prescription

Our honest advice: wear contact lenses under the Vanguard, or keep a proper prescription sport sunglass for training and use a Meta pair off the bike. If the smart glasses have to carry the prescription, look at the HSTN — or at Meta's two purpose-built prescription styles below.

The purpose-built prescription alternatives

Meta calls these its first AI glasses built for prescriptions: the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) (rectangular, in a Standard and a Large size) and the Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2) (rounded). Both use overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads and optician-adjustable temple tips — in other words, they are designed to be adjusted by someone like us. Both are CAD $569 on our store as of July 2026.

"Oakley Terraforma" — a mix-up worth clearing up

Common search, wrong product

The Terraforma is not a Meta smart glass.

A lot of people search "Oakley Terraforma" expecting to find the camera glasses. It is a completely different product: a standard Oakley sunglass with an O-Matter frame and PRIZM lenses. No camera. No speakers. No Meta AI. It is simply a good-looking pair of sunglasses.

If you want the technology, you want the HSTN or the Vanguard — both pictured above, both real photos of the pairs we sell. If you want the look, ask us about Oakley sunglass availability, or browse our sunglasses.

Where to buy Oakley Meta glasses in Canada

You can order them online from Meta or Oakley directly. That works fine if you already know your fit and you do not need a prescription. What you give up is everything that happens in person.

  • Fit. A wrap shield and a rounded acetate frame sit completely differently on the same face. Five minutes with both on settles the question that a week of reading cannot.
  • Adjustment. Smart glasses are heavier than regular frames and the electronics sit in the temples. If they slide down your nose, the camera aims at the sidewalk. We adjust them so they sit level and stay there.
  • Prescription. If you want your Rx in the HSTN, an optician has to measure and order it. That is our job.
  • A human. If something goes wrong, you talk to the person who sold them to you, not a support form.

FAQ

How much are Oakley Meta glasses in Canada?

As of July 2026, Charm Optical lists the Oakley Meta HSTN from CAD $499 (up to CAD $589) and the Oakley Meta Vanguard at CAD $639. The exact HSTN price depends on the colourway you choose: clear and standard PRIZM lenses are $499, Polarized PRIZM is $559, and Transitions is $589. Prescription lenses, if you need them, are quoted separately.

What is the difference between the Oakley Meta HSTN and the Vanguard?

The HSTN is the everyday pair: a rounded lifestyle shape, Ultra HD (3K) video, IPX4 splash resistance, up to 8 hours of battery, and it takes prescription lenses. The Vanguard is the sport pair: a wraparound single shield built for running, cycling and skiing, with a centred 12 MP camera behind a 122-degree wide-angle lens, IP67 dust and water resistance, up to 9 hours of battery, speakers that Meta rates at six decibels louder than the HSTN, a five-microphone array optimised to reduce wind noise, and Garmin and Strava integration. The Vanguard is sun-only — it does not come in prescription.

Can you get Oakley Meta glasses with a prescription?

The Oakley Meta HSTN takes prescription lenses, so yes — our Edmonton opticians can order it with your single-vision or progressive lenses. The Oakley Meta Vanguard has no prescription lens option; it is a sun-only sport shield. If you need a prescription smart glass, Meta's purpose-built prescription styles are the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and the Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2), both CAD $569 at Charm Optical as of July 2026.

Is the Oakley Terraforma a Meta smart glass?

No. The Oakley Terraforma is a standard Oakley sunglass with an O-Matter frame and PRIZM lenses — it has no camera, no speakers and no Meta AI. If you want the Oakley look with the technology inside, the models you are thinking of are the Oakley Meta HSTN and the Oakley Meta Vanguard.

Are Oakley Meta glasses waterproof?

Neither pair is waterproof. The Oakley Meta HSTN is rated IPX4, which means it shrugs off splashes, rain and sweat but is not rated for water jets or being submerged. The Oakley Meta Vanguard is rated IP67, so it is dust-tight and handles water far better — but Meta still does not market either pair as a swimming glass.

Where can I see Oakley Meta glasses in Edmonton?

Charm Optical keeps demo units of the Oakley Meta HSTN and the Oakley Meta Vanguard, along with the Ray-Ban Meta range, at 5035 Ellerslie Rd SW in South Edmonton. These are display pairs you can wear to check the fit and the sizing — we do not hold sellable stock, so your actual pair is ordered in for you, and most of the range is a special order that can take up to one to two months. Call us at (780) 490-0090 before you come and we will have the demo you want out and ready to try on. If you need an eye exam or prescription lenses, book online at see.charmoptical.ca — exams are by appointment only.
