How to Try Meta Glasses in Edmonton (Demo First, We Order)
You can try Meta glasses in Edmonton at Charm Optical, 5035 Ellerslie Road SW, by appointment. We keep demo units for sizing, so the demo settles width, bridge and temple length on your own face. We then take your measurements and your prescription, order your pair in, and fit it when it arrives.
The demo is not for sale. That is the part most people want spelled out, so we are spelling it out first: you come in, you try, we measure, we order, you come back for the adjustment.
Below is the whole appointment, in order — plus a way to know your own frame size before you get here.
Can you try Meta glasses on in Edmonton?
Yes. We keep demo units at the counter for exactly this. A demo lets you check three things a photograph never will: how wide the front sits, how the bridge rests on your nose, and where the temples land behind your ears.
What the demo is not is the pair you leave with. Your pair is ordered in, in the model, size and finish you chose, with your prescription lenses glazed into it if you need them.

What size are you? Read your own frame first
Almost every pair of glasses has its size printed inside one of the arms. Three numbers, in millimetres. Most people have never looked. It is the single most useful thing you can bring to a fitting, because it tells us which demo to hand you first instead of guessing.
Take off the glasses you are wearing now, turn one arm over, and find the numbers. Then fill them in below.
The three numbers inside your temple
Fill in what is printed on your current glasses. You will get a card to bring to the appointment — it tells us where to start.

millimetres
- Eye size 52 mm. We start you on the demo closest to it, then set the next size beside it so you can see the difference on your own face.
- Bridge 18 mm. This is the number that decides whether a frame sits or slides. If yours runs wide, say so — there is a Low Bridge Fit version of the Headliner.
- Temple 145 mm. Too short and the front lifts off your face; too long and it creeps forward. We check where the bend lands behind your ear.
Ranges shown are the usual adult spread published by All About Vision: eye size 40–60 mm, bridge 14–24 mm, temple 120–150 mm. Sitting outside a range is not a problem — it just means the number matters more, so bring it in.
| Number | What it measures | Usual adult range | What the demo settles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eye size | The width of one lens, side to side | 40–60 mm | Whether the front is too wide or too narrow for your face |
| Bridge | The gap between the lenses, across your nose | 14–24 mm | Whether it sits where you put it, or slides down |
| Temple | The arm, from hinge to tip | 120–150 mm | Where the bend lands behind your ear |

What happens at the fitting appointment
Book a time, come in, and give it about twenty minutes. Here is the order of it.
- Try the demos. Size, bridge and temple length, on your face, in a mirror. Two sizes side by side if we have them, because you cannot judge a width without something to judge it against.
- Pick the model and the finish. Frame shape first, colour second. A finish you love in a shape that does not fit is a pair you stop wearing.
- Show us your prescription. We check it against the specific frame you liked, because not every prescription suits every shape.
- We take your measurements. Pupillary distance and fitting height, taken on the demo you actually chose, in the position it actually sits.
- You get a written quote. The device price and the prescription lens line, both, before anything is ordered.
- We order your pair in. Your model, your size, your finish, glazed to your prescription if you need one.
Settle this before you come
- Whether you need a prescription in them at all
- Your current frame's three numbers — the fit card above
- Rough budget, so we show you the right shelf

Only settled at the counter

A photograph tells you what a frame looks like. Only your own face tells you whether it fits.
Which Meta models are in the line-up?
Eight models, across Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta. Seven of them take a prescription. The Oakley Meta Vanguard does not — it is sun-only, in PRIZM tints, and no prescription option exists for it. Demo availability moves, so call (780) 490-0090 and we will tell you which ones are on the bench for your appointment.
-
Ray-Ban Meta
The shape most people picture. It sits very differently from the Headliner, so compare the two before you decide.
-
Ray-Ban Meta
The one to ask about if glasses slide down your nose or the lashes touch the lens.
-
Oakley Meta
Wrapped, sun-only. Worth asking about if you run or ride, but there is no prescription version of it.
Three of the eight, shown at their live listed prices. The full line-up is on our Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta pages.
| Model | Prescription | Listed device price |

Those are device prices. Prescription lenses are a separate line, and we quote them against your actual prescription rather than guessing — a mild single-vision script and a strong one are not the same job.
What "we order it in" actually means
Once the quote is signed, we place the order for your model, size and finish. If your pair needs prescription lenses, it goes to the lab to be glazed after it lands.
We give you the expected date when we place the order, and we call you when it arrives. You can also check where yours is on our order tracking form. We do not quote a blanket turnaround on this page, because it moves with the model and with whether there are lenses to cut — a date we can actually stand behind is worth more than an average.
Come back for the adjustment
The second visit is short and it is the one people skip. We heat and set the temples to your head, level the front, and check that your optical centres land where we measured them. A smart frame that sits crooked takes photos that sit crooked too.
Do you need a prescription first?
You need a current prescription, which is not the same as needing a new exam. If yours is still valid, bring it in or send it over and we will work from it.
If it has expired, or you have never had one, a comprehensive adult eye exam at Charm Optical is $99 and is booked at see.charmoptical.ca. Appointment only. Alberta Health Care covers a routine eye exam for children 18 and under and for seniors 65 and over.
Worth saying plainly: a smart frame is still a pair of glasses. Put a two-year-old prescription in a $500 frame and you have bought a headache with a camera on it.
Is it still called the Meta View app?
No. Meta renamed it. In Meta's own words, "We are updating the Meta View app to the Meta AI mobile app", and "once you update to the Meta AI mobile app, your paired devices, settings and media will automatically transfer over" (Meta AI Glasses Help).
So if you are searching for the Meta View app, you are looking for the Meta AI app. The name changed; the glasses did not. Pairing and setup happen on your own phone, on your own account — what we handle is the part that has to happen on your face.

FAQ
Can I try Meta glasses on in Edmonton before I order?
Yes. Charm Optical at 5035 Ellerslie Road SW in south Edmonton keeps demo units at the counter so you can check the size, the bridge and the temple length on your own face. The demo is there for fit. Once you have chosen the model, the size and the finish, we take your measurements, order your pair in, and fit it to you when it arrives. Visits are by appointment, so call (780) 490-0090 first.
Can I get Meta glasses the same day in Edmonton?
No. The units at the counter are demo units for sizing, and they are not for sale. Your pair is ordered in for you in the model, size and finish you chose, and if you need prescription lenses it is glazed to your prescription after it arrives. We give you the expected date when we place the order and we call you when it lands, and you can check progress on our order tracking form.
Is the Meta View app still called Meta View?
No. Meta renamed it. Meta's own help page states that "we are updating the Meta View app to the Meta AI mobile app", and that "once you update to the Meta AI mobile app, your paired devices, settings and media will automatically transfer over". If you are searching for Meta View, the app you want is now called Meta AI. Pairing and setup happen on your own phone and your own account.
Which Meta glasses can I get with a prescription?
Seven of the eight models take a prescription: the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer, Headliner, Headliner Low Bridge Fit, Skyler, Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics, plus the Oakley Meta HSTN. The Oakley Meta Vanguard is the exception — it is sun-only and there is no prescription option for it. Listed device prices run from CAD $469 to $639 as of August 2026, and prescription lenses are a separate line quoted against your actual prescription.
Do I need an eye exam before I order Meta glasses?
You need a current prescription, which is not the same as needing a new exam. If your prescription is still valid, bring it in or send it over and we will work from it. If it has expired or you have never had one, a comprehensive adult eye exam at Charm Optical is CAD $99 and is booked at see.charmoptical.ca. Appointments only. Alberta Health Care covers a routine eye exam for children 18 and under and for seniors 65 and over.
What measurements do you take at a smart glasses fitting?
Your pupillary distance and your fitting height, both taken on the demo frame you actually chose and in the position it actually sits on your face. That is why the demo matters: the same numbers taken on a different frame do not transfer. We also check the bridge and the temple length, because a frame that slides moves your optical centres every time it moves.
How do I find the size of my current glasses?
Turn one arm over and look at the inside surface. Most frames are printed with three numbers in millimetres: the eye size, which is the width of one lens, then the bridge, which is the gap across your nose, then the temple length from hinge to tip. A small square rather than a dash usually separates the first two. The usual adult ranges are 40 to 60 mm for eye size, 14 to 24 mm for the bridge and 120 to 150 mm for the temple, according to All About Vision.
